Abstract: New ways of software development are of great benefit to a company, enabling it to work smarter – delivering more code, more quickly to more people with roughly the same amount of people – all of which can have a positive impact on it’s bottom-line. However, managing used OSS at scale is also a complex puzzle that can lead to big risks if you don’t have the right set up to support OSS reviews and contributions to the community. In this talk, you will learn how the Open Source Office at HERE Technologies creates an OSS bill of materials for its products by building an open source solution (OSS Review Toolkit) to solve an OSS community problem with a community solution.

Speaker: Thomas Steenbergen is the Open Source Program Lead at the Open Source Office of HERE Technologies (www.here.com), the Open Location Platform company, which enables people, enterprises and cities to harness the power of location. With over 15 years of experience in the software industry, he has held a variety of technical lead roles and worked as an engineer in Netherlands, UK and Germany. Thomas has been an active contributor to the SPDX specification since 2015, helping to make it better match what developers find in code. He is also working on open-sourced review tooling solutions within ClearlyDefined and OSS Review Toolkit projects.
