Invitation to the 2016 AMOS Projects Demo Day

On July 13th, 2016, this year’s AMOS Demo Day will take place. Student teams from The AMOS Project course will show-case the results of three months of hard software development work. The demo day will take place in “Nebenraum Cafeteria” (Room 00.136) in the main Cafeteria building at Erwin-Rommel-Straße 60, 91058 Erlangen. The demo day is open to the interested professional public. Please register so we can prepare properly.

The following projects from the original line-up will be demoed in the presentation booths, from 10:45 – 12:30 Uhr.

1. A Mobile Remote for Hearing Aids via Bluetooth

Industry partner Sivantos GmbH (former Siemens Audiology)
Project summary Students will develop a cross-platform mobile app to manage hearing aids (Hörgeräte) via a new Bluetooth Low Energy communication protocol. The partner will provide the necessary hardware.

2. An App and Service for Managing a Mobile Robot

Industry partner Basys GmbH (Develop Group)
Project summary Students will develop a library for a small mobile robot and a mobile cross-platform app/dashboard for steering and controlling the robot. The partner will provide the necessary hardware.

3. A Wireshark Plugin for Monitoring In-car Communication

Industry partner AVL DiTest GmbH
Project summary Students will develop a Wireshark plugin to analyze and monitor the DoIP protocol for TCP/IP-based in-car communication. The partner will provide the necessary hardware.

4. Inter-car Communication for Autonomous Driving

Industry partner Continental Automotive GmbH
Project summary Students will develop a simple object detection and inter-car communication scenario, in which one car warns another car about obstacles hidden from its view. The work will be based on Continental’s software agent library.

5. Optimizing Transportation for Efficiency and Revenue

Industry partner Siemens AG (Corporate Technology)
Project summary At IT-Gipfel 2015 Siemens presented a flexible conveyance system to the German government. Students will receive a large data dump and first visualize and then analyze the transportation data for more efficient control and revenue maximization.

6. An App and Service for Conference Management

Project summary Students will develop a service and a cross-platform app for conference participants. The app and service is to support managing a conference program, voting for events and providing feedback, as well as additional functionality.

7. Corporate Credit Profiles using Cognitive Services

Project summary Students will develop a service that compiles data about companies from various sources (social media, open data, proprietary data) and analyses it using (IBM) Watson’s cognitive services to create a credit profile of the company in question.
