Short Biography
Prof. Dr. Dirk Riehle, M.B.A., is the Professor for Open Source Software at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. Before joining academia, Riehle led the Open Source Research Group at SAP Labs, LLC, in Palo Alto, California (Silicon Valley). Riehle founded the Wiki Symposium, and more recently, the Open Symposium, now the joint international conference on all forms of open collaboration. He was also the lead architect of the first UML virtual machine. He is interested in open source software engineering and agile methods, complexity science and human collaboration, and software design. Prof. Riehle holds a Ph.D. in computer science from ETH Zürich and an M.B.A. from Stanford Business School. Prof. Dr. Dirk Riehle, M.B.A., ist der Professor für Open Source Software an der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Vor der Ernennung zum Professor leitete Riehle die Open-Source-Forschungsgruppe des SAP Labs, LLC, in Palo Alto, Kalifornien (Silicon Valley). Riehle ist der Gründer des Wiki Symposiums und auch des Open Symposiums, welche zusammen die gemeinsame internationale Konferenz zum Thema offener Zusammenarbeit darstellen. Er war der Chef-Architekt der ersten virtuellen Maschine für UML. Seine Interessen sind die Open-Source-Softwareentwicklung sowie agile Methoden, komplexe adaptive Systeme, computer-unterstütze menschliche Zusammenarbeit, und Softwareentwurf. Prof. Riehle erwarb einen Doktortitel der Informatik an der ETH Zürich und einen M.B.A. an der Stanford Business School.
