Abstract: Tomcat, Android, gcc and BlueZ you probably already heard of or even used in your project – but what about GPL, MPL, AFL, CDDL and EPL? Well, licenses are definitely not the most attractive issue to care about during software development, but nevertheless it’s very important to know whether you have the right to modify or distribute a specific piece of code. The GPL for example allows distribution only if the source code of the whole program is distributed, too. While often no issue in academics (as we always share knowledge), companies usually don’t like to share their code that builds their competitive advantage. So companies face the challenge of balancing benefits against risks of use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). In this talk we will discuss what policies and processes companies set up to manage FOSS effectively and efficiently, and how tools can support this.

Abstract: In modernen Fahrzeugen verrichten komplexe mechatronische Systeme ihren Dienst und stellen dem Benutzer eine Unzahl an (versteckter) Funktionen bereit. Solche Systeme bestehen aus vielen Sensoren, Aktoren und vernetzten Steuergräten. Dieser Vortrag erläutert technologische Besonderheiten der Software-Entwicklung für verteilte eingebettete Systeme in der Automobilindustrie. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden Anforderungen und Vorgehensweisen bezüglich der Software Architektur dargestellt und diskutiert.

Denn geht es bei größeren Software Projekten um Qualität spricht man von Software-Architekturen. Und diese werden von Architekten entworfen, gepflegt, kommuniziert, gegebenenfalls auch verteidigt und natürlich verantwortet. In diesem Vortrag soll die Signifikanz der Software-Architektur im Allgemeinen und die damit verbundenen Aufgaben des Architekten im Speziellen klargestellt werden.
