Red Hat, provider of the community open source project Fedora and the commercial open source product Red Hat Enterprise Linux is sponsoring the Open Source Research Group of the University of Erlangen Nuremberg. We are very happy to receive the gift which will support a Ph.D. student (as a research assistant) for half-a-year. The sponsorship was facilitated by the Open Source Business Foundation.
On Nov 23, 2009, Red Hat had put out a corresponding press release. In addition, Red Hat had held a press roundtable on Nov 26, 2009, of which we expect to see the results soon in major German and international IT publications. Both sides expect this initial step to develop into a collaboration on research questions that are of industrial relevance to Red Hat and the Linux industry.
